"Time is Present. Designing the Common" is the title of the fourth edition of the Porto Design Biennale, which returns to Porto and Matosinhos in October.
The event, promoted in collaboration between the Porto and Matosinhos City Councils and organised by esad-idea, aims to be a platform for dialogue between civil society, academia, industry, institutions and national and international cultural agents.
With a program conceived by Italian curators Angela Rui and Matilde Losi, the program aims to act on the territory and the local community. The theme proposes a rethink of quality time and alerts the public to "consider cultural practices as part of a larger ecosystem of shared commonwealth, deepening our appreciation of common goods", say the curators.
This edition has a curatorial team composed of Angela Rui (General Curator), Matilde Losi (Assistant Curator), Eleonora Fedi (Local Curator), Nina Paim (Public Programme Curator) and Andreia Faria (Editorial Curator).
With a commitment to considering public space as an alternative for cooperation and creativity, local projects will be selected from municipalities, associations, co-operatives, and movements, led by teams of local and international designers. The Open Call is open to designers who identify with the Biennale's premises.
