Since 2012, ESAD has been conducting self-build projects that combine the manual and constructive dimensions with the design dimension in response to emerging needs in fragile or expectant areas of the territory.

This year, the Matosinhos City Council asked the first-year Interior Design Masters students to create a seating area for Matosinhos Beach. In the first phase, the students were challenged to develop a site-specific project using sketches and scale structural models. After a jury selects the project to be implemented, the self-build process begins, lasting approximately five days.

This project, aimed exclusively at students on the Master's in Interior Design, is part of the program of intensive projects and workshops within the scope of this Master's coordinated by Maria Milano and João Gomes with the collaboration and technical support of José Castro and Carlos Rocha.
